Zorgtoeslag offsets the cost of the mandatory Dutch basic health insurance for anyone 18+ with a modest income. Since studiefinanciering is not counted as income, the vast majority of students receive the full amount.
Who qualifies
- 18 or older with Dutch basic health insurance (basisverzekering)
- Income below €40,857 (single, 2026); assets within limits
- EU students insured only via an EHIC generally don't qualify
How to apply
Apply on Mijn Toeslagen with your DigiD. You can claim retroactively until 1 September of the following year.
