FPU predoctoral contracts (university teaching track)

The FPU program of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities hires doctoral candidates as employees for up to four years (six for candidates with a disability) to complete a thesis while training in university teaching. The FPU 2025 call offers 870 contracts, 43 reserved for researchers with a disability of 33% or more, with a minimum salary of €25,116 per year paid in 12 monthly instalments plus two extra payments. Complementary calls fund short research stays abroad, and a postdoctoral orientation period of up to twelve months is available after an early thesis defence. Salaries sit above the legal floor of the predoctoral researcher statute (EPIF, RD 103/2019).
Who qualifies
- Enrolled or admitted in a Spanish doctoral program for 2025/26 — or holding/finishing a master's that gives access to one in 2026/27
- Any nationality; selection is competitive on academic record, the project and the supervising team
- Not having started predoctoral training under equivalent state aid before
