Reduced tuition for grant students (Flanders)
Verminderd studiegeld / beurstarief (Vlaanderen) ·Administered by Vlaamse overheid — dienst Studietoelagen (AHOVOKS)
Flemish tuition (studiegeld) for a 60-credit diploma contract is €1,157.00 in 2025-2026 (€299.00 fixed plus €14.30 per credit). Students entitled to a studietoelage — or who meet its financial conditions — pay the flat beurstarief of €136.50 with no per-credit part. In between sits the bijna-beurstarief of €611.00 (€299.00 plus €5.20 per credit) for households whose reference income exceeds the allowance ceiling by at most €3,984. Rates are uniform across all recognized Flemish institutions, and your institution is informed automatically through the Studietoelagen counter.
Who qualifies
- Beurstarief: you receive a Flemish studietoelage, or meet its nationality and financial conditions while enrolled under a diploma contract
- Bijna-beurstarief: reference income at most €3,984 above the study-allowance maximum (2025-2026), or you fail only the cadastral-income test
- Applies to graduaat, bachelor, master, bridging and teacher-training programmes
How to apply
File a study-allowance application in the Studietoelagen digital counter — the service notifies your institution of your rate; institutions typically refund the difference if you already paid the full fee.
Recent & announced changes
The extra study-allowance conditions arriving in 2026-2027 (age under 30, 54 credits) explicitly do not apply to reduced tuition.
