Minerval waiver and reduction (FWB)
Gratuité et réduction du minerval (FWB) ·Administered by Direction des Allocations d'Études (Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles)
In the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles the registration fee (minerval) is socially tiered. In 2025-2026 universities charge €835 as the base rate, €374 for students of modest means and €0 for boursiers — grant holders enjoy 'gratuité totale' plus free printing of mandatory course materials. Hautes écoles charge lower minervals (€175.01 short-type to €454.47 for degree years) but total enrolment costs, real fees included, are capped at €836.96 — €374 for modest means, free for boursiers. Show the acknowledgement of your bourse application at enrolment and the fee is waived or refunded.
Who qualifies
- Boursier: awarded (or applied for) an FWB allocation d'études, or a Development Cooperation scholarship — pays €0
- Condition modeste: income-based status assessed against thresholds set by regulation — pays at most €374
- Applies at universities, hautes écoles and arts colleges in the French Community
How to apply
Nothing separate to file — hand your allocation-application receipt to your institution at enrolment; if you already paid, the institution runs a refund procedure.
