Bourse sur critères sociaux (means-tested student grant)

Bourse sur critères sociaux (BCS) ·Gerido por Cnous et réseau des Crous

The bourse sur critères sociaux is the backbone of French student finance. Based on your parents' income, the distance to your campus and the number of children in the family, you are placed on one of eight échelons — from 0bis (€1,454 per year) to 7 (€6,335 per year for 2025/26) — and paid in 10 monthly installments from September. Being a boursier also waives university tuition fees and the €105 CVEC, and unlocks the merit, master-mobility and international-mobility top-ups. Students enrolled in overseas territories receive an extra €300 per year.
