Belgium's child benefit is regionalized — Groeipakket in Flanders, allocations familiales via FAMIWAL and other funds in Wallonia, Famiris under Iriscare in Brussels — but all three keep paying for students until the month of their 25th birthday. Base amounts differ by region and birth year: Flanders pays €184.62/month for children born from 2019 (older cohorts €106.27–€265.87), Wallonia €209.25 for 18-24-year-olds born from 2020 (older, rank-based: €121.50–€335.66), Brussels €215.59 for 18-24-year-olds in higher education (index 03/2026). In higher education the key condition everywhere is an enrolment of at least 27 credits taken by 30 November.
Quién tiene derecho
- Until the month of your 25th birthday, with enrolment for at least 27 credits by 30 November (17 hours/week outside higher education)
- Flanders: student-contract work within the 650-hour quota is fine, plus at most 80 hours/month under ordinary contracts; no self-employment in main occupation
- Wallonia: 650 hours under student contract without impact, plus at most 240 hours/quarter as a regular employee
- Brussels: at most 240 hours/quarter across contracts; the summer quarter is free if you resume studies after the holidays
Cómo solicitarla
Nothing to apply for while the benefit is running — your family's payer verifies the study condition (in Brussels via an annual September form); report changes in your work situation.
